Go Crab Man!!!

Go Crab Man!!!, originally uploaded by Will Cowan.

Well, I've been getting pretty good use out of my camera recently. Had a blast with it down in London, and have been taking a few shots around the place in Edinburgh.

Here is one of my favourite shots from the recent BoxWars promo that a few of my friends put on.

Update

Well, I spent a week down in London, Dropped in on Roy in Leeds and spent a few days in Camden Town.

It was great fun caught up with a load of people, hung out with Linda heaps and made a mission to Essex to buy a car for the Mongol Rally. Its a little '88 970cc Suzuki Sj410 .

We gave it a quick tyre kick, and started it up, and then handed over 475 quid for it.

Me and Linda then drove it back into London, but had a few hiccups, one the battery was flat, the second it over heated and blew a load of white smoke...... Blown Head gasket.

Any ways after heaps of fretting while trying to drive it home a few days later I U turned after puffing more smoke on the way out of London and took it back to Essex and they kindly offered to fix it...

Merry-Go-Round
A foggy late night mission to the playground.
Submitted to: Embrace the Blur. JPG Magazine

I'm back, It really has been a long time since my last post, I've kept a fairly solid stream of photos through photos.willcowan.com though..... Just not many words to go along with them.

Edinburgh is still going well, works been a bit up and down, but is back up now. I spose my most recent news was hanging out my Nicky's parents for a while. A nice wee road trip down to the lakes district.

Here are some of the photos from the trip.

A quick update

Well, Edinburgh's still doing pretty well, just coming to crunch time with house shenanigans, who's to move or stay, who comes who goes, who pays what... Etc. Etc.

On better news the T-Mobile store that I'll be working at has finally commenced construction, with handover planned for 28th May, so far I've been shunted around to all corners of Scotland such amazing places as Motherwell, Kirkcaldy, Glenrothes, Falkirk and Aberdeen. Its like living in a Hostel, yeah its work and stuff but I just want to settle into the one store with the one team. As far as promotions go it had a slightly shaky few weeks but is (Hopefully) back on track, yay!

Last month I managed to double my sales target and as a reward bought my self a shiny new digital camera, a Canon EOS 20D ( for those not in the know its Da Fuckin' Bomb!! ) a very swish piece of machinery. This weekend I plan to give it a bit of a bash at Knockengorroch Festival.

From the flyer "2 stages, Celtic Longhouse, Acoustic Sessions throughout weekend, late-night Dj's, Open Mic, Storytelling, Street Theatre, cabaret, Fire spectaculars, music, dance and lots of Creative Workshops, Solar Powered Cinema, children's marquee and procession, puppets, global shopping, real Scottish ales, camp site provided.

sounds like fun to me

more to come soon ( with great festival photos )

On a slightly more serious note, I'm getting a promotion, thats right I'll be the Senior Sales (effectivly the assistant manager) of the biggest store in Scotland. yay. woo. woohoo.

well now that its been a few weeks its a little hard to try and sum up
the Spain trip in just a few words.
on the second day I got news from oldman that grandma had died that
day. for me it was weird being away from home for something like that.
It was strange to be on holidays in Spain knowing my parents were busy
making funeral arrangements. (I'll attach dad's eulogy for those who
would like to read it.)

So, apart from being thrown a bit off kilter by that, Spain was
amazing. The beer was cheap, the other inhabitants of the hostel were
a great and it was an amazing festival.
More to come soon.

Valencia Spain

Valencia Spain
We arrived in Valencia for Las fallas 2006, thanks to a tip off from
Trish and Bruno (Nicky's aunt and uncle)
Pepe just described it as "crazy, oh it's so crazy" we weren't too
sure what to expect, we ended up in an explosion of noise colour beer
and most importantly explosions. Just picture cramming a few extra
million people into a Spanish city, fill every available space with
flags, lights and statues carved from polystyrene and paper mache.
From morning till well into the night the streets were filled with
parades of marching bands and families in traditional dress filled the
streets.
We had a fairly boring day one, on the bus to the airport Julia
realised she had left her wallet at home, it was the first of many
losses through out the week. We met up with Dave at Gatwick, he had
spent the last few days in London. Being the "value conscious
consumers" that we are, in a clearing of the airport we enjoyed a
picnic style packed lunch. It was the first time I had flown with-in
the EU on my British passport, it was weird, no hassles at all. Its
weird being so used to filling out arrival cards lining up to get
passports stamped and all that hoopla. A quick glance at the photo and
off to baggage collection. We had booked accommodation online a few
months back with the nest hostel, the only place with room left. We
took a little while to find the place, but that's to be expected when
you don't bring the address of the hostel. Our dubious thoughts of a
rat infested shit hole were quickly put to rest by warm welcoming
staff and a huge clean colourful and comfy hostel. We dumped out bags
and went for a wander, shortly followed by beer and tappas.

Nicky at Vegas

IMG_7864, originally uploaded by Will Cowan.

A photo from Vegas, a 30's / 40's dress up party in edinburgh last weekend.

15th February 2006

Well, another change of plans, I’ve just started at my new job, it’s a bit more businessy and corporate. They are spending £80m that’s close to $190m on retail improvements this year, so it’s a good place to be. Currently I’m out in Motherwell, a pish little town south of Glasgow. It takes me over an hour to get there on the train, but its semi scenic and I get to do stuff like write in my blog, as I’m doing now. They should have a flagship store in Edinburgh open soonish where I’ll be placed.
Well, Old Man has been and gone, we had a cool few days in Edinburgh and on Australia Day scattered Granddad’s ashes in Greenock, the Scottish town he emigrated from at the age of 13. We found a nice little spot on the hill overlooking the town and the River Clyde. We then headed down to the South West of England, where mum and dad spent about 10 years, and where Fraser and I were born, we had a descent tour of the villages they lived in, people they worked with, pubs they drank at the Cricket pitches dad played on. It was a nice piece of English country side.
The Tron is still going well, dad got to experience the wonders of £1 Pints, and I’m still enjoying the generally fun attitude of the of the staff, on the other hand I really hope they have picked a good team for the Edinburgh store. The Motherwell store I’m working in is dead boring, and over staffed and has a manager who when describing the training book explained “Now, the way you do this book will tell me what sort of person you are, you aren’t going to be one of those people who crosses things out and makes it messy will you? How about you write down the answers first then copy them into the book”. As he wasn’t in store yesterday I spent about 20 minutes finishing off Module Two, and was told not to do any more as he wants to sign off on each module before I go any further. So as you can imagine the remainder of the 8 hour shift absolutely thrilling.
Cheers

A quick update.

A quick update on what I’m up to, first of all I’ve finished up at Virgin Mobile, and got a job in a quite cool student bar called The Tron, they do £1 Pints on a Wednesday ( $1 pots at saloon style ) Its relaxed and the customers are all pretty chilled out. On top of that I just got a job at T-Mobile, they are opening their flagship store for Scotland on Princess st. and I’m gonna be the full timer there…. Base wage is pretty average, but commish is pretty good ( and uncapped ).

All is well, Old Man gets here in a few days, should have a nice big aussie day party….

Speak to you all soon.
